5,000,000 Rosaries in a Spiritual Bouquet
To rediscover the content of the faith that is professed, celebrated, lived and prayed...is a task that every believer must make his own, especially in the course of this Year.” (Porta Fidei,9)
Praying the mysteries of the Rosary teaches us how to:
- Grow in intimate friendship with Christ our Savior, in the mysteries of His life, death and Resurrection
- Grow closer to Mary our spiritual mother, and to all the saints in Heaven, and with them to God
- Surrender our will to His saving will
- Profess our Catholic Faith more intentionally
- Grow in grace and holiness
- Be stronger and more confident to live the Faith boldly every day
Why pray the rosary?
Through the words of St. Dominic, our Blessed Mother Mary ensured 15 Promises to anyone who prayed the rosary. Among the promises:
- "Whoever shall faithfully serve me by the recitation of the Rosary shall receive signal graces”
- "It will cause virtue and good works to flourish”
- “The faithful children of the Rosary shall merit a high degree of glory in heaven. “
Praying the rosary offers numerous spiritual benefits including creating fulfillment in your life as well as deepening your relationship with God.
What is a “Spiritual Bouquet”?
“A spiritual bouquet’ is a group of prayers gathered together for a particular intention. The idea is that each prayer is like a flower and that the group is like a bouquet mystically offered as a gift to God for a particular intention. That is why, for example, you’ll sometimes see Catholics organize ‘spiritual bouquets’ for particular purposes, such as for the intentions of the Pope in honor of his birthday. Those who participate promise a certain amount of prayers and devotions for the intention and then the list is compiled and given to the person whose intentions are being remembered in prayer. How will we reach 5,000,000?
There are 408 days during the “Year of Faith.” Additionally, there are over 94,000 Catholics living in the Diocese of Sioux City. If we can get 13,000 of our parishioners—One of every seven!—to commit to praying the rosary daily, we would easily meet our goal!
Why should I register my Spiritual Bouquet?
While we know there is no perfect counting system for taking on such an ambitious endeavor, we would like to have somewhat of a recording of those who will be joining in our cause. There will be periodic updates throughout the Year of Faith regarding activities, prayers, etc. By registering your contact information, we will be able to pass along this information as it becomes available.
